Biography

Engr. Mariam Mir Memon is a dedicated Chemical Engineer, researcher, and academician from Sindh, Pakistan. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Chemical Engineering at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, where she secured a 4.0 GPA in coursework and achieved 1st position in her cohort. Her PhD research work is currently in progress. She completed her Master of Engineering (M.E.) in Chemical Engineering from the same institution with a CGPA of 3.89, securing 1st position. Her master’s research focused on the chemical modification and functionalization of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fiber for the removal of arsenic from groundwater. She earned her Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Chemical Engineering from Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science & Technology, graduating with distinction and securing 3rd position. Her undergraduate thesis was based on the production of biodiesel from algae. Engr. Memon has diverse academic and industrial experience. She served as a Lecturer at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Matiari, where she developed lesson plans, delivered chemistry lectures, supervised laboratory work, and actively participated in curriculum development and professional training. Prior to this, she worked as a Research Assistant at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology under the HEC-funded NRPU project, where she conducted water quality analysis, assisted in wastewater treatment research, and taught undergraduate practical courses including Physical Chemistry and Pollution Control Engineering. Her industrial exposure includes working as a Trainee Engineer at Matiari Sugar Mills, where she assisted in process optimization and quality control. She also completed internships at Refhan Maize Mehran Plant and Colgate-Palmolive, and gained practical experience at the Public Health Engineering Department, Hyderabad. Engr. Memon has actively contributed to research in water treatment, adsorption technologies, and environmental engineering. She has published and presented several research papers at national and international conferences, including events hosted by the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, and the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar. Her research interests include groundwater remediation, adsorption processes, wastewater treatment, and sustainable environmental technologies. In addition to her academic achievements, she holds certifications in Occupational Health and Safety, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Process Design and Simulation using Aspen Hysys, and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy. She possesses strong analytical and technical skills, with proficiency in MATLAB, Aspen Hysys, and Microsoft Office, along with excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities. Engr. Mariam Mir Memon is committed to applying her technical expertise and innovative mindset to advance research and contribute meaningfully to sustainable industrial and environmental solutions.
