Biography

Prof. Dr. Aslam Pervez Memon is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology (QUEST), Nawabshah, Sindh, Pakistan. With more than two decades of teaching and research experience, he has contributed significantly to Power Electronics, Power Quality, Wavelet Transform Applications, Neural Networks, Power System Protection, FACTS & HVDC, Industrial Drives, and Power Electronics & Motor Drives. He earned his B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) in 1993, an M.Phil. in 2003 on Artificial Neural Network Applications in Alternator Excitation Systems, and a Ph.D. in 2014 on Wavelet and Neural Network Based Approaches for Detection and Classification of Power Quality Disturbances. Since joining QUEST in 1996, Dr. Memon has served as Lecturer, Assistant Professor, and Professor, and held academic leadership positions including Director of Postgraduate Studies, Chairman of the Library Committee, Acting Chairman of Electrical Engineering, and member of Academic Council, Board of Faculty, Board of Studies, and Senate. He also represented QUEST in the HEC National Curriculum Revision Committee for Electrical Engineering. Dr. Memon has authored numerous publications in IEEE, Elsevier, and other indexed journals, with more than 500 citations on Google Scholar, and is the author of the forthcoming book “Electrical Power Quality”. He has supervised over 30 Master’s theses and continues to guide Ph.D. scholars in areas such as Wavelet Transform, ANN, FACTS, HVDC, and Smart Grids. He regularly teaches courses in Power Electronics, Power Quality, Power System Analysis, Motor Drives, FACTS, HVDC, and AI Applications in Power Systems. Professionally, he is a member of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), IEEE, and serves on editorial and review boards of reputed journals. Driven by a passion for power system reliability, stability, and intelligent fault detection, Dr. Memon advances research using MATLAB/Simulink, Wavelet Transform, and Neural Networks, while mentoring future engineers and researchers across Pakistan’s power sector.
